Independent Limestone Company is one of the largest single-site limestone quarries in Indiana. Situated in the heart of Southern Indiana’s famed “Limestone Belt,” the company’s property spans 600 acres and it has only used somewhere between 150 and 160 acres to date. Operating since 1927, the company has a reputation for high quality stone, customer satisfaction and integrity.
ILC’s buff and grey limestone is known for its consistency, workability and small grain. Limestone from ILC has been used in countless government buildings, universities, churches, hospitals, and distinguished landmarks across the United States and Canada. The renovation project for the Pentagon after 911, known as the Phoenix project, has been by far the most meaningful in our history.
Closer to home, one can find ILC stone in the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Indianapolis, Millennium Park in Chicago, the National Cathedral, the Muncie Gazebo and in Bloomington’s own Justice building.
Independent Limestone Company holds the Natural Stone Sustainability Standard-ANSI/NSC 373 designation as a Gold Quarrier and Silver Fabricator and is a member of the Indiana Limestone Institute of America, Inc.
