Independent Limestone Company was founded in 1927, southwest of Bloomington, IN. Since that date, it has fully operated as a limestone quarry, which manufactures and markets limestone for buildings and other purposes. We have become one of the leading quarries in Indiana. Central Indiana has been called the limestone capital of the United States, and Bloomington (Monroe County) is the middle of Hoosierland's famed Limestone Belt.
Throughout the history of Independent Limestone Company we have provided limestone for many historical buildings. In addition to others, we have provided limestone for the Empire State Building, Washington Cathedral, the Pentagon Phoenix Project and countless other projects across the country.
Limestone from Independent Limestone has been used in these significant projects plus countless banks, universities, churches, hospitals, and distinguished landmarks across the United States and Canada. The renovation project for the Pentagon from the terrorist attack on 9/11/01, has been by far the most meaningful. We are very proud to have provided limestone for this rebuilding project known as the Phoenix Project.

We are members of the Indiana Limestone Institute of America, Inc. Indiana Limestone Institute is a trade association which represents quarriers and fabricators of Indiana Limestone, as well as associate members who supply goods or services to the industry. ILIA's charge is to educate and promote.
